AI writing toolkit for paraphrasing, rewriting and editing
Read review →Official site ↗Grammarly vs QuillBot is a choice about where and how you revise text. Consider Grammarly when you want suggestions inside supported writing applications. Consider QuillBot when explicit rewriting modes are central to the task. Both offer application integrations, so this is not a simple inline-versus-web distinction.
QuillBot has the lower published individual annual price in the sources reviewed. That does not establish better value for every writer. We have not published a matched accuracy or speed benchmark and do not award an overall winner. Use the billing comparison and meaning-preservation exercise below to test the difference that matters to your work.
The table uses published USD individual-plan prices reviewed on September 13, 2026. It excludes taxes, discounts and team arrangements. Annual equivalents are rounded labels; the invoice total is the more useful number.
| Billing choice | Grammarly Pro | QuillBot Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly subscription | $30/month | $19.95/month |
| Annual subscription | $144/year | $99.95/year |
| Annual monthly equivalent | $12 | About $8.33 |
Sources: Grammarly’s billing documentation and QuillBot’s pricing FAQ. QuillBot also notes regional pricing differences. Its pricing FAQ labels one intermediate option inconsistently, so this comparison excludes that option rather than treating it as a verified six-month plan.
For these annual plans the invoice difference is $44.05 per person per year. Under a purely illustrative $30/hour value of editing time, that is about 88 minutes a year, or 7.3 minutes a month. The cheaper subscription stops being the cheaper workflow if it adds more cleanup than that. This calculation does not show which product saves time; you need your own matched trial.
The following source and rewrites were constructed by ScoutChoice for this exercise. Neither rewrite is output from Grammarly or QuillBot. They demonstrate the distinction between improving style and changing a commitment.
Source: The supplier may deliver the replacement by Friday if the customer approves the revised quote. The estimate is up to $900; installation is not included.
| Constructed rewrite | Review decision |
|---|---|
| The replacement could arrive by Friday, provided the customer approves the revised quote. The estimated cost is no more than $900, excluding installation. | Retains uncertainty, approval condition, ceiling and exclusion. Check surrounding context before accepting. |
| The replacement will arrive Friday for $900, including installation. | Reject: turns a possibility into a promise, removes approval, fixes a ceiling as a price and reverses the exclusion. |
Try your own non-confidential source in each tool. Ask for a clearer version while preserving those four constraints. Keep the original, the first suggestion, the version you accept and any corrections. Do not keep retrying only one product until it produces a favorable result.
This is a proposed protocol, not test results. The 30-day pilot guide provides a record for a broader evaluation, and the ROI calculator distinguishes usable time from cash savings. For company material, check the data controls before uploading text; this comparison is not a security audit.
We checked published billing, product scope, limits and application documentation. The links beside each claim identify the supporting page. We did not measure comparative grammar accuracy, speed, user preference or enterprise security. Product documentation supports availability claims, while our suggested choices depend on the writing task.
Start with Grammarly if reducing interruptions in your current editor is the priority. Its desktop documentation describes reviewing, accepting and dismissing suggestions in supported writing contexts. Verify that the feature you need appears in your exact application and account; feature coverage can vary by surface.
Use the free experience to establish whether ordinary corrections are useful before paying for extra rewriting features. During the trial, record how many suggestions you actually accept and how often you need to reopen the source. Do not treat a smoother sentence as evidence that a factual claim has been checked.
Explore Grammarly →Start with QuillBot if you want to compare controlled revisions of an existing passage. Its free Paraphraser supports 125-word inputs in Standard and Fluency modes; Premium expands that scope. It also provides app and extension options, so test the workflow you would actually adopt rather than assuming it requires constant tab switching.
Use a passage you wrote or can legitimately work with, keep its sources and review any altered qualifications. When an input limit forces you to split a document, include that work in your timing. A lower annual subscription price matters only if the finished result still meets the same standard.
Explore QuillBot →Source review completed September 13, 2026. We checked the linked official pricing and product documentation, separated annual invoices from monthly equivalents and removed a general winner claim that was not backed by a published matched test.
The source and rewrites in the exercise are constructed teaching material, not provider outputs. The acceptance rule is a suggested evaluation method. No comparative accuracy score, speed result, real user outcome or security certification is claimed. The published price comparison concerns individual plans; final regional pricing, taxes and account entitlements require checkout confirmation.
Start with the writing surface and acceptance criteria. Grammarly may fit an existing editor workflow; QuillBot may fit deliberate mode-based rewriting. We have not measured which produces more accurate edits on a matched test set.
The individual annual invoices reviewed were $99.95 for QuillBot Premium and $144 for Grammarly Pro. Compare the final regional terms and review effort before choosing on price alone.
No. Its official product page lists browser and desktop options. Check whether the exact feature and application you need work together.
No. Preserve dates, attributions, uncertainty and commitments. The constructed example above shows how a short rewrite can reverse a material condition.
No. QuillBot's own guidance acknowledges false positives and false negatives. Keep source notes and drafts rather than treating a detector score as proof.
No. They report a review of official documentation and a constructed editing exercise. The proposed trial is for readers to run with their own permitted material.
